The framework
Part-145 requires the organisation to plan production and organise the transfer of information at shift or personnel changes (145.A.47 and its AMC).
An effective handover
- Written and verbal handover, face to face where possible.
- Precise status of each task: done, in progress, not started.
- Removed parts, open panels, tooling in place, remaining tests.
- Points of attention and related documents.
- The incoming person asks questions before the outgoing shift leaves.
Frequently asked questions
Is a verbal handover enough?
The handover must be recorded according to the organisation's procedures; the verbal exchange complements it.
